I was a 12yr old brown-eyed Asian child who’d recently started to use the internet and was very much fascinated by how Europeans and Americans looked- many of them have blue eyes and blonde hair aka the golden child(ren).

It was considered exotic and non-existent where I lived. The entire population had dark brown eyes, except for some elderly whose eye color would lighten with age.

Now, as the name speaks for itself, as a curious and obsessed kid who had done a lot of research, I started pouring honey into my eyes thrice per day, and let me tell you it hurt ALOT!

I did those for over a month but did I get blue or light-colored eyes? No.

Here comes the question, can you pour honey into your eyes?

There has been no scientific evidence whatsoever that supports pouring honey into your eyes. But is it?

The human eye consists of an organ named the iris, that’s located between the cornea and the crystalline lens. The iris consists of a pigment known as melanin which is responsible for determining the color of your eyes. The more melanin, the darker your eyes. Melanin is also responsible for determining the pigmentation of your hair, eyes, and skin.

So pouring honey into your eyes, to lighten the color is not going to help.

Permanent eye color can be achieved through iris implant surgery, laser eye color change, and corneal pigmentation.
